Hot Peppers

NIKON D200 @ 70mm — ¹/3 sec, ƒ/7.1, ISO 100 | zoom in
365:15 - Hot Peppers

Anyone who knows me knows that I love spicy food. And while it may not be super creative, I figured it was as good a subject for today’s photo as anything.

Violet Coffee Cup

NIKON D200 @ 40mm — 1 sec, ƒ/22, ISO 100 | zoom in
365:14 - Coffee Cup

I’m starting to come to the conclusion that the shots where I like the lighting are more luck of the draw than any actual skill on my part. Here, the coffee cup is exposed properly, but for some reason, I can’t seem to figure out how to lighten the background. Perhaps it’s time to start investing in some better lighting equipment!

Scissors

NIKON D200 @ 65mm — ¹/3 sec, ƒ/13, ISO 100 | zoom in
365:13 - Scissors

After a really long day of going to work, eating a lovely dinner, and then returning to work, my creativity is a bit lacking. I saw these scissors and have been meaning to play around with them as a subject for a while. This may not be the most creative shot, but I actually like the lighting which is a major accomplishment for me.

Snowblower

NIKON D200 @ 31mm — ¹/60 sec, ƒ/4, ISO 100 | zoom in
365:12 - Snowblower

While this may not be quite as exciting as some of my previous photos, I started my day out in the snow, and saw this blue handle. I was determined to make it look really interesting, and I’m not sure I succeeded. Then again, it’s a snowblower handle, so I’m not sure what potential for interest it holds. Regardless, I truly enjoyed the snow this morning. It’s finally starting to feel like winter around here!

Asparagus Bouquet

NIKON D200 @ 38mm — ¹/15 sec, ƒ/5, ISO 100 | zoom in
365:11 - Asparagus

Time for another green photo, and as usual, I got home after dark and too late to find anything interesting outside. These short days are not conducive to outdoor photography. It finally dawned on me that we had some asparagus in the refrigerator and I decided to see what I could come up with. A little fiddling with getting a white background and finding the correct depth of field and I think I’m really happy with it.

For lights, I have one light camera left, and then a soft light camera right (diffused). That’s it. Post processing was very minimal and was done entirely in Lightroom — cloned out a couple spots on my white background and adjusted the white balance.
